The Getaway Cafe has been a local’s favorite for breakfast and lunch since 2006. 99 percent of everything on our menu is made from scratch with love. Our Mexican breakfast specialties are incredibly flavorful and we offer a wide array of vegetarian breakfast and lunch options. We serve locally roasted Alpen Sierra Coffee, and offer Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Draft beer and a great selection of wines by the glass. Tahoe Bagel Company is a family owned business with roots in the North East. Owners, Justin and Jeffrey Kaplan are the great grandchildren of Harry and Fanny Wrotzlawsky, who owned bakeries in New York and New Jersey for over 50 years. After being born and raised in New Jersey, where bagel shops and delis are a way of life, they moved to Lake Tahoe in 2012 and 2016 respectively. There, they found a home and realized this is where their food service industry careers matched the quality of life they were looking for. Justin and Jeffrey are excited to bring some of their favorite foods to their favorite place. Welcome to Tahoe Bagel Company, established in 2020. Now eat up and get outside!
We work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients, and use old-fashioned techniques to ensure the highest quality. We never use preservatives or high fructose corn syrup and always bake all our goodies fresh every day we are open. We proudly get our fresh seasonal fruit from farms in Placerville CA, and the central valley. All our items are lovingly hand made in small batches to insure you get the highest quality product possible. After one taste, you'll see how everything we serve is, "A cut above the rest!"
Over the years, the restaurant has been owned and operated by a short list of local families who all share a strong passion for living in Lake Tahoe. Before their retirement goals were met in 2015, the Bruso Family placed the Ernie’s legacy in the hands of their long-time family friends Kent Baer and Nathan Bergner. While we remain extremely grateful to serve our patrons, we also pride ourselves in supporting our mountain community beyond the dining room table through continuous fund raising efforts for youth and education. This is a tradition that has always been a cornerstone of the Ernie’s philosophy and will continue for as long as the South Shore can call us one of their own.
The Driftwood Cafe first opened their doors in circa 1960 as a cafe adjoined to the Tahoe Driftwood Lodge. Current Driftwood owners, Bud and Michelle Hillman, purchased the Driftwood Cafe in 1999.
In the fall of 2006 a redevelopment project in South Lake Tahoe forced the demolition of the original building. The cafe's new location in the Heavenly Village.
Sugar Pine Bakery is a locally owned bakery in South Lake Tahoe, California, that sells different kinds of cakes and other baked goods. We also let our customers create their own custom cakes any way they want. Having been in business for more than seven years, we provide both locals and tourists with the best-tasting pastries on this side of the city. All our products are baked every day to guarantee their freshness.
